What would you do when a full grown killer whale (orca), that can weigh up to 7 tons, rams your sailboat? They are capable of damaging a boat, or in the worst case scenario, capsize a boat. The hit of an orca can be so violent that the boat can be spun around 180 degrees in a blink, as experienced by sailboat skipper Rafael Martinez. Killer whales can also easily damage or break off the rudder and make the boat unsteerable. Unfortunately more and more incidents are being recorded worldwide. Scientists believe that these attacks are likely caused by various bad interactions with humans, and the attacking behavior is passed on to the next generation of orcas.
